Experience Dominica, the "Nature Island" of the Caribbean.

The Commonwealth of Dominica (not to be confused with the Dominican Republic), is a sovereign, English-speaking island nation located in the Caribbean West Indies, between the French-speaking islands of Guadeloupe to the north, and Martinique to the south.

Dominica is internationally-renowned and acclaimed as “The Nature Island of the Caribbean” – where the mountain rivers that cascade down to the sea are pure; the island air clean and fresh; the stars at night brilliant; the mountain rain forests verdant and green; and our warm Caribbean waters so clear, with some of the most unblemished and undisturbed coral reefs in the world!

You deserve a break from the routine, so escape to our “magical” island of Dominica. Summer is particularly lovely in Dominica, and our local whale pods are very active this time of year – great for whale watching trips!

And for scuba divers, our clear warm waters, populated by pristine coral reefs teeming with sea life, means some of the most dramatic diving and snorkeling in the Caribbean – you can even dive into a submerged volcanic crater!

For land lovers, hikers and eco-tourists, come explore our spectacular waterfalls; hike through our lush, mountain rain forests on well-marked trails; see our magnificent “Boiling Lake”, the second largest in the world; or visit “Carib Territory” – our friendly Caribs are the last indigenous peoples living in the Caribbean.

For those who simply want to soak up the warm Caribbean sun, make sure you plan at least one day to visit our Mero Beach – the longest and one of the most beautiful beaches in Dominica – and just minutes from our hotel!

The small village of Mero, which hugs the beach, has a number of shops where you can purchase toiletries and gift items, hear some great local Dominican music, and meet some of the friendliest people in the Caribbean! Always with a warm smile and a nice hello!

Here at the Island Bay Boutique Hotel, we feel privileged to live in such a beautiful place, on such a scenic and unspoiled Caribbean island – which is why we call this magical place “Our Paradise”. And you can make it “Your Paradise” too – if only for a week or two.

Even Johnny Depp (who we love and admire as a great actor), reportedly commented that he “treasured” his several-week stay here in Dominica, while shooting scenes for his blockbuster movie hit “Pirates of the Caribbean”.

Come visit one of the most beautiful and spectacular islands in the Caribbean – Dominica! It will be a vacation filled with the fondest of memories, and images of the island you will never forget!
